THE BEST TIME TO BUY HEATING OIL
At what time of year do you usually stock up on your heating oil? Summer? Fall? In the coldest part of the winter? You really can’t remember? When do other oil customers typically stock up on their oil?
Here at HeatingOilApp.com, we give things like this a lot of thought, even though most oil customers probably do not. One might tend to think that the coldest part of the winter would be the best time to stock up on oil, since that’s when usage is at its highest and customers are typically thinking about keeping enough fuel in their tank. Hence, this might come as a surprise to you... the blistering hot summer months are actually the best times to stock up on heating oil. This is because oil prices tend to go down during the warm weather when... wait for it... customer demand for heating oil drops.
The tricky thing is, when you have plenty of oil remaining in your tank and you’re primarily just using it to heat your hot water, it can be very tempting to wait until the weather gets colder before ordering more. However, smart consumers know that it is always in their best interests to purchase products when prices are at their lowest. We realize that oil prices do tend to go up and down, and that other factors can affect the price of oil besides just the weather. However, oil prices have historically been at their lowest during the hot summer months. So, when looking ahead to the glorious summertime, don’t just put your family vacation and the kids’ summer camps on your calendar. Be sure to schedule your next oil tank refill as well. The money you will save can go toward those other two enjoyable (and expensive) purchases. And, come winter, you can focus on holiday spending instead of buying more heating oil. You’re welcome! 🙂
